Life Insurance

We usually buy life insurance for ourselves to protect our family should something happen to us. But there are now several life insurance types which one can choose from. There is the term life insurance, the whole life insurance, the high risk and the no exam life insurance. Before investing, we should be fully aware of all the terms and conditions of each insurance. I think it is best to invest in life insurance wherein which if the plan matures, its dividends can already pay for the annual premium. It is best to choose a life insurance which fits the lifestyle of the family.

Enhanced K+12 Basic Education

This is the year that the Philippine government will implement a change in the basic education of the country. If you are wondering what sort of changes they are implementing, you better read on the full briefer from the Official Gazette of the government.

DepEd is going to implement the K-6-4-2 Model. This model involves Kindergarten, six years of elementary education, four years of junior high school (Grades 7 to 10) and two years of senior high school (Grades 11 to 12).  Based on the briefer, a full 12 years of basic education will eventually be required for entry into tertiary level education (entering freshmen by SY 2018-2019 or seven years from now).

Based from the briefer, this is the implementation plan:

(1) Universal kindergarten will be offered starting SY 2011-2012.

(2) DepEd will begin unclogging the basic education curriculum in SY 2012-2013.

(3) The enhanced 12-year curriculum will be implemented starting with incoming Grade 1 students of SY 2012-2013.

Growth of Our Kids

As parents, we are all concerned about the health and the growth of our children. We provide them the best care and basic necessities to ensure that they grow up within the usual and normal growth that is expected at every age level. We all have that human growth hormone within us, but each person grows up in different ways. Now that my son is 4 years old, sometimes, I worry that he is not gaining weight fast enough but as I read from websites, weight gain for 4-5 years old is typically 4 pounds or 1.81 kgs a year.  I also asked his pediatrician, and the doctor said that as long he is not losing weight and is growing taller, it is okay.

Normal growth can be achieved with good nutrition, adequate sleep and regular physical activities.
