Alice’s Adventures Under Ground Manuscript

Alice in Wonderland, or rather Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. Lewis Carroll is not the author’s real name but rather his pen name for the books. His real name was Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and he was actually a mathematician!

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a timeless story that is loved by children and adults alike! The story of Alice in Wonderland began as a manuscript titled Alice’s Adventures Under Ground and Lewis Carroll illustrated this version himself. Alice’s Adventures Under Ground is a lot shorter than the final story and many of the stories found in the final book were not included in this version. Our version of the Alice In Wonderland PDF was illustrated by Arthur Rackman and I do think that these are my favorite illustrations so far!

Since its publication, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland has never been out of print and it has also been translated into over 170 languages.

Alice In Wonderland Q&A

What Is The Difference Between Alice in Wonderland And Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland?

Lewis Carrol named his original story Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland although the story is more commonly called Alice In Wonderland. In 1951, Walt Disney animated the story and released it under the more common name, “Alice In Wonderland”.

Although the movie stays true to most of the Alice In Wonderland story, there are a couple of differences. One is that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum do not appear in the original Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland story. The story that Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum tell Allice about the Walrus And The Carpenter also doesn’t appear in the book.

Was Alice In Wonderland About Drugs?

Although some of Alice’s adventures do seem rather wacky and out of the ordinary, there is no evidence that Lewis Carroll wrote his stories with any type of narcotic references in mind. In fact, the story was originally written for the three young daughters of one of Lewis Carroll’s friends, Henry Liddell. His daughters, Lorina, Alice, and Edith were 13, 10, and 8 at the time.

Is Alice In Wonderland A True Story?

No, Alice In Wonderland is not based on a true story. The character Alice however is based on the daughter of Lewis Carroll’s friend, Henry Liddell. Alice Lidell is said to have been a very willful, bossy little girl who nagged Lewis Carroll to write the story.

The Alice stories were first created one legendary ‘golden afternoon’ on 4 July 1862. While entertaining the three Liddell sisters, Alice, Lorina and Edith, during a boating trip, Dodgson [Lewis Carroll] improvised the story that would become Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The main character, Alice, shared many characteristics with Alice Liddell, being stubborn, precocious and curious.
