Dracula Q&A
Was Dracula A Real Person?
No, Dracula is a fictional character. Although, it is said that Bram Stoker got his inspiration for the character from a real-life man named Vlad III, the prince of Wallachia. He was better known by the name Vlad the Impaler because of the brutal and cruel way he killed people.
Also known as Vlad III, Vlad Dracula (son of the Dragon), and—most famously—Vlad the Impaler (Vlad Tepes in Romanian), he was a brutal, sadistic leader famous for torturing his foes. By some estimates he is responsible for the deaths of more than 80,000 people in his lifetime—a large percentage of them by impalement.

Dracula Summary – What Is The Basic Storyline Of Dracula?
The story begins with Jonathan Harker, a young English lawyer, traveling to Transylvania to help a Count by the name of Dracula finalize the purchase of an estate near London. Before reaching the castle, many of the local people warn Jonathan not to go there. Although he is nervous he pushes aside these feelings and goes anyway.
When Jonathan meets the Count he is initially impressed with his knowledge. However, he starts to notice strange things about the castle and Dracula himself, and after a while, he starts to suspect that he may be a prisoner at the castle.
The Count warns Jonathan that he should not explore the castle as many of the other rooms in the castle are not safe. Jonathan ignores his warning and soon he comes across three female vampires who try to seduce and devour him. Dracula rescues him and he manages to escape soon after that. He doesn’t go back to England straight away because he falls ill and is nursed back to health at a convent in Hungary. In the meantime, Dracula travels to England aboard a ship where most of the crew are killed.
In England, Johnathan’s fiance Mina is worried because he hasn’t been in contact with her for a while. Mina spends a lot of time with her best friend Lucy who is engaged to Arthur Holmwood.
When Dracula arrives in England he remains hidden and secretly plans to hunt down Jonathan. He starts to secretly drink Lucy’s blood. Dr. Seward, one of Lucy’s previous suitors, notices that Lucy is becoming weak but he doesn’t know why she is losing blood. He asks for advice from Professor Van Helsing who realizes that Lucy is being attacked by a vampire. Professor Van Helsing places garlic around Lucy’s room but her mother removes it not knowing that garlic deters vampires.
Lucy dies shortly thereafter and soon reports are being heard that local children are being stalked by a beautiful lady. Van Helsing knows that it is Lucy and they find her and drive a stake through her heart to kill her.
Now that Lucy is dead the group decides to track down Count Dracula and kill him. One night they realize that Dracula has been drinking Mina’s blood and that he is controlling her by forcing her to drink his blood. They realize that she is cursed to become a vampire unless they can kill the Count himself.
Dracula escapes and goes back to his castle in Transylvania but the group follows him. When they arrive in Transylvania, Van Helsing and Mina go to Dracula’s castle where they kill the three vampire women. In the meantime, the others track down Dracula and kill him, and by so doing they free Mina from Dracula’s curse.
