Front Facing Floor Bookshelf
First up we have a floor bookshelf created by Charleston Crafted. This beautiful bookshelf is great for younger kids who ideally need to see the front of the books on their bookshelf so that they can easily choose what they want to read.

Cloud Bookshelves
This very cute kids’ bookshelf idea from How To Nest For Less features front-facing floating bookshelves that look like floating clouds!

Looking for something for your kids to read? Don’t forget to check out our free classic kid’s books!
Floating Bookshelf
This set of floating bookshelves comes from In the Playroom and just like the previous two ideas, they are front-facing so kids can see the fronts of each book instead of the book spines. I love the star detailing on each shelf!

Cardboard Bookshelves
Don’t have the budget or woodworking skills for DIYing fancy bookshelves? Then why not try your hand and cardboard bookshelves! This very handy kids’ bookshelf tutorial comes from Upcycle My Stuff and it is the perfect quick, cheap, and easy way to sort out your kid’s books in a weekend or less!

Kids Gutter Bookshelves
If you are looking for a unique idea then gutter bookshelves could be for you. Honestly, I had never thought of using gutters as bookshelves but aren’t they clever! And they don’t break the bank either. This bookshelf tutorial comes from Anika’s DIY Life.

Corner Gutter Bookshelves
Sunshine on the Inside brings us this very cool corner bookshelf design that also uses gutters! It is very similar to this girl’s reading nook design which is one of our favorite designs.

Headboard Bookshelf
If DIY and woodwork are your jam then this very cool headboard bookshelf from Ana White could be just what you are looking for!

Chubby Bookshelves
This very simple bookshelf from Ana White is made by using 9 chubbies that can store everything from books to toys. Add labels to be that much more organized!

Corner Name Bookshelf
This awesome bookshelf idea comes from Home Made Our Way. I love how they have not only created a bookshelf with their son’s name on it but also how the letters match perfectly with the walls.
What a great way to use the small space that would otherwise be an awkward small corner!

Kids Tree bookshelf
No Kids DIY bookshelf collection would be complete without a few tree bookshelves! The first bookshelf comes to us from Charleston Crafted and I love how cute it is, not to mention you don’t don’t have to have a degree in rocket science to make it!

Our second DIY bookshelf comes from Girl In Air. This one is very similar to the first one and is just as cute!

Rocket Ship Bookshelf
Speaking of rocket science, don’t you love this very cool rocket ship bookshelf from The Handyman’s Daughter? I don’t think it’s as easy to make as some of the other bookshelves in this collection but it certainly is special!

Letter Bookshelf
This gorgeous Pottery Barn inspired kids bookshelf comes from Home Stories. The tutorial specifically shows you how to make a bookshelf in the shape of the letter A but I wanted to include it because I think it’s such an awesome idea!

Milk Crate Bookshelf and Reading Bench
Want something super easy? Check out this design from Brie Brie Blooms. It simply uses milk crates to create a cozy reading bench that your kids will love! Lay your milk crates flat on the floor, add a comfy mattress on top, throw in a few scatter cushions and you are good to go!

Bookshelf Chair
This idea is for the hardcore DIYers among us! This tutorial comes from Darko at Instructables and I must say that I really love this idea! I just don’t know if I’m hardcore enough to build it myself – I might just stick with the milk crates 🙂

Book Storage Crate
And last but certainly not least, we have a super easy idea from No Time For Flash Cards. This is a really simple idea that you can easily incorporate into your kid’s reading corner or playroom and the best part is that they can help you decorate each crate themselves!
